Newcastle University Enactus were placed in the top 10 at this year’s Enactus finals competition with their University advisors recognised with the Advisor of the Year accolade.
The team have successfully delivered change projects both domestically and overseas. They have empowered people to exploit their potential to improve their own lives and their communities. Along the way they have recognised the change and personal growth this has brought to their own lives.
Dr James T. Brown is a respected speaker and author renowned for his educational and entertaining presentation style. For 15 years he has run his own company SEBA Solutions.
He had a career at NASA that included "hands on" experience as a team member, project manager and serving in executive level organizational leadership roles. He has a patent for a project scheduling methodology, and has received numerous awards including "Engineer of the Year" from the Cape Canaveral Technical Societies and is a recipient of the "NASA Public Service Medal" for exceptional contributions to NASA’smission. He has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida, a MS in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee State University.
Dr Brown is the author of The Handbook of Program Management published by McGraw-Hill. He has also been published in the PMI Community Post, PM Network, PE Magazine, and many other periodicals. His online video based training courses have been used by companies large and small and provide actionable takeaways with a minimum time investment for participants.
An IBM executive stated after Dr Brown’s keynote speech “If we all took the time to step back and remember what Dr Brown taught us, we would be unstoppable in the marketplace.”
James will join us live from Florida USA.
Jane Sparrow has spent her career working with organisations across the globe to create high performance cultures. A published author, her book, The Culture Builders: Leadership Strategies for Employee Performance, has been widely acclaimed, including endorsements from organisations including BUPA, Diageo, UKTV, Sky and Starbucks.
Jane has worked as a special advisor to respected brands, including Google, BBC Worldwide, British Gas, MTV, Comedy Central, Warburtons and Sky, enabling people to sustain high performance by nurturing culture and engaging people. She works with CEO’s and leadership teams to shape strategy, coaching board members and running high-performance programmes. An expert facilitator, consultant, performance coach and impactful speaker she regularly provides her opinions and insight to the global media.
Jane began her career at IBM and held a variety of senior positions in Sony Europe, The Energy Project and MCA (now part of the WPP Group). Founder of the Culture Builders, specialising in transformational change, engagement and sustainable high performance cultures, her approach is grounded in the belief that by moving people beyond being simply ‘savers’ and working with them to become ‘investors’ - people who will put far more in, organisations can unlock their performance potential.
Jane’s work has also been incorporated into university and business school curriculums, including MBA programmes at Henley Business School. She is one of a number of selected business and policy leaders, academics and influential thinkers who works with business leaders to respond strategically to sustainability challenges, through Cambridge University’s Prince of Wales Business and Sustainability programme.
