Glasgow and Edinburgh Skeptics, in conjunction with the Scottish Secular Society and Humanist Society Scotland presents: POD-AWFUL, An evening of Cognitive Dissonance & Scathing Atheism.
From the USA, two of the most popular podcasting teams in the Skeptical/Atheist/humanist community are Tom Curry & Cecil Cicirello of Cognitive Dissonance and Heath Enwright, Noah Lugeons & Eli Bosnick who are full time producers of The Scathing Atheist, Skepticrat and God Awful Movies podcasts. They are in Scotland for only a few days, so come along to meet the guys and hear them hilariously mispronounce any place name in Scotland.
A word of warning, they will pull no punches in their criticism of religion, zealotry, bad-thinking and Donald Trump. Not for the faint of heart or the easily offended. You have been warned.
Cognitive Dissonance: “Tom and Cecil [See-sill] co-host the ridiculously irreverent, sceptical, atheist, bombastic podcast Cognitive Dissonance. The show skewers religion, politics and anyone that gains the ire and attention of its hosts. Cecil does all the work, Tom takes all the credit, and together they take the piss out of whatever hits their radar.”
Noah Lugheons, Heath Enwright, and Eli Bosnick are full-time professional podcasters and are responsible for several podcasts:
Scathing Atheist: “The Scathing Atheist is a weekly podcast dedicated to the harshest of criticisms against faith and religion. Firmly entrenched in our conviction that truth and rationality are virtues worth fighting for, we feel no need to apologize for our venomous characterizations of religion and its role in society.
What’s more, we firmly support the right of every man and woman to worship whatever sky-buddy they choose to, but only if it comes with the caveat that every man and woman has an equal right to say that Jesus sucks dingo balls. And he does.”
God Awful Movies: “If there were really a God, would it inspire such god awful cinema? Noah, Heath, and Eli tackle some of the very worst offerings from Christian cinema, and will be appearing in Edinburgh with CG to pull apart yet another piece of pious propaganda.”
The Skepticrat: “The Skepticrat is a not-safe-for-work (and probably not-safe-for-home) look at the ongoing conflict between politics and common sense.”
This is event is free to attend, although we will be asking for donations at the end of the talk. Participants are under no obligation whatsoever to donate, however please rest assured that the money we collect doesn't end up in anyone's pocket - it is used to fund our overhead costs, and travel/accommodation for our speakers who come from further afield.
Accessibility: We are able to arrange wheelchair access if required. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Note: We create events in both in our Facebook Community and our official Facebook page. This is because some members of the Group either haven't 'Liked' our official Page, and vice versa ... so don't be worried if you think you're seeing double.
