Grimm & Co is delighted to welcome acclaimed poet, writer, comedian and performer Kate Fox our Writer's Pad!

Kate has been Poet in Residence for the Great North Run, Glastonbury Festival and Radio 4’s Saturday Live, and has worked extensively facilitating writing and performing projects for schools, community groups and festivals. She has performed her poetry on BBC1 and BBC2 as well as numerous radio shows, and has made two comedy series for Radio 4. Her poetry collections have been published by Burning Eye Books, Smokestack and Valley Press, among others.

The good folk at the Betjeman Poetry Prize have funded Kate to deliver a FREE poetry workshop for young people aged 10 - 13 at Grimm & Co. Over the course of this engaging, interactive, and exciting workshop the participants will each create place-themed poetry that will be submitted for the Betjeman Poetry Prize.

The Betjeman Poetry Prizes are:

  • The winner receives £500. The English department of his or her school receives £5000.

  • The two runners up receive £200 each

  • The top three poets each receive four Eurostar tickets to Paris, Brussels or Lille

  • Highly commended entrants receive £50

  • All six finalists are invited on a Betjeman Poetry Camp

  • The top 50 poems are printed in our annual anthology

  • Every teacher who enters their class joins a prize draw to win a poet visit

This workshop is FREE to take part in, and refreshments will be provided. A parent / guardian must drop off and collect your child from the workshop, and must fill out a parental consent form at the start of the workshop.
