Poetry And...Women in the Arctic: In partnership with Hercules Editions
Poetry and…. a series of readings at King's College, London, curated by Professor of Poetry Ruth Padel, celebrates poetry’s power to connect across boundaries. Free events, free refreshments, and meet the author book-signings
Helen Mort FRSL won the Manchester Young Writer Poetry Prize and was five-times winner of the Foyle Young Poets award. Her first poetry collection Division Street won the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize: her second collection No Map Could Show them featured women alpine climbers. Her new pamphlet The Singing Glacier contains poetry to accompany music by William Carslake, with whom she explored a glacier in Greenland. She teaches Creative Writing at the University of Leeds. Her BlogSpot `Poetry on the Brain` was one of the Picador `Best Poetry Blogs` choices.
Sara Wheeler, FRSL, travel author and biographer, is an internationally acclaimed author, famous especially for her accounts of polar regions. Her books include Chile: Travels in a Thin Country, Terra Incognita: Travels in Antarctica, and The Magnetic North: Travels in the Arctic.
Emma Stibbon RA, Senior Lecturer in Fine Art Printmaking at the University of Brighton, is an award-winning artist with an international reputation. Her residencies include the British School in Rome, and an art and science expedition to the Arctic Circle.
