Join us for the latest instalment of monthly poetry evenings at Lala Books, featuring acclaimed poets Theresa Lola and Bridget Minamore, two of London's most exciting contemporary voices.
There will also be readings from Page of Wands, a writers’ collective that meets weekly at SET Social in Peckham, and additional open mic slots for new and emerging talent, available on a first come, first served basis (please register on arrival).
Theresa Lola is a British Nigerian multidisciplinary poet and artist. She has performed at Royal Albert Hall and ICA, and been commissioned by Rimowa and National Gallery. She is the author of two poetry collections. A poem from her debut book In Search of Equilibrium is in the UK’s GCSE syllabus. Her second collection Ceremony for the Nameless was praised in the Guardian as a book that “assures her place as a trailblazer for a new wave of poets”.
Bridget Minamore is a British-Ghanaian writer from south-east London. A poet, dramaturg, and teacher, she currently works for an award-winning film and TV production company while finishing her new book. Her debut pamphlet of poems, Titanic is published by Out-Spoken Press.
Page of Wands is a writers’ collective that meets weekly at SET Social in Peckham. They are for anyone that’s interested in and enjoys words.
Tickets are £10 and fully redeemable against any poetry book purchased at the event.
Open mic performers receive complimentary drinks.
