Event description
An opportunity to share or just listen to poetry from others across the diocese.

About this Event

Poetry Break is a monthly coffee break for poetry lovers to gather. This will be an opportunity to hear poetry from others across the diocese. Those who come for coffee will be able to share a poem (either a poem of theirs or a favourite poem) or they can come simply to listen and join the conversation.

Dr Aisha Ahmad, in a tweet thread about how we might manage this marathon of living through the pandemic suggests:

“Frankly, even though we cannot physically leave this disaster zone, try to give yourself a mental or figurative "shore leave". Short mental escapes can offer respite and distance from the everyday struggle. Take more mental "leave" until you clear the wall.” (Sept 20th 2020).

Poetry Break that is being hosted by our Continuing Ministry Development Officer, Revd Canon David Herbert.

Coffee time begins on Zoom at 11:00 on 12 November 2020 (to 12:30) - then that time every second Thursday of the month during these times of physical distancing.

This is for those who need a break from busyness by joining yet another Zoom meeting!

It is intended to be a BREAK – a break to be refreshed by poetry. We will treat ourselves to just an hour of listening to poetry and sharing favourite poems and poems written by those who join.
