About this event

After many years at the University of Edinburgh, poet and author Jim C Wilson’s Poetry in Practice sessions have been based at the Scottish Poetry Library. The next course will consist of 10 sessions. Each session will take place on a Tuesday afternoon from 1.45 pm to 3.45 pm in Meeting Room One. The first meeting will be on Tuesday 16th September.

There are 10 places available. Enrolment (online only) begins on the 18th of August.

One ticket covers all 10 weeks and is £150.

The core activity of each session will be detailed analysis and constructive criticism of poems by three or four group members. There will also be consideration of various forms (sonnet, sestina, cinquain, etc.) and news about publications and events. From time to time, poems by established writers, past and present, will also be examined. And Poetry in Practice has developed a unique approach to the renga (Japanese linked poem), producing one verse each week!

Material for each session will be emailed to members several days in advance and they should download this and bring it with them on Tuesday afternoons.
