Starting in the picturesque market town of Ledbury, home to three of the great English poets; William Langland, Elizabeth Barrett-Browning and John Masefield.
We will then follow part of an ancient pilgrimage route, taking in three places of worship. Starting at St.Michael and All Angels we will be stopping for refreshments (please bring you own packed lunch) at St.James the Great Colwall (St.James is the patron saint of pilgrims). Our final stop will be at the serene Great Malvern Priory.
The walk is approximately 12 miles and involves 2,000 ft of assent. Hence, this walk requires a reasonable level of fitness! It will also require stout walking boots, waterproofs, drinking water and a packed lunch.
This is a linear walk, starting in Ledbury (HR8 1DR) but ending in Great Malvern (WR14 2AY).
Please Note that travel arrangements to the start point and from the finish point are your own responsibility.
However, there is the option to park at Great Malvern Station, Station Approach Malvern WR14 3AL (free parking) then travel by train (08:46 hours) to Ledbury arriving at about 09:00. On exiting Ledbury Station turn left on to Homend until you reach the Market Hall then turn up Church Road to St Michael & All Angels. Having completed the walk at Great Malvern Priory, it is then a short walk back to the station. If parking in Ledbury, the closest car park would be the Bye Street Long Stay Car Park (HR8 1BU).
