Poets Who Edit is a new reading series sponsored by Poetry Research @ Manchester Met and MA Publishing, which invites award-winning poets who are also editors at influential presses from across the UK’s diverse publishing scene, for readings and workshops at Manchester Poetry Library. Visiting poet-editors include Sarah Howe (Chatto & Windus), Rachael Allen (Fitzcarraldo Editions, Granta) and Luke Thompson (Guillemot Press).

Rachael Allen is the author of Kingdomland (Faber, 2019), a Poetry Book Society Choice, as well as God Complex (Faber, 2024). She was the recipient of a Northern Writers’ Award and an Eric Gregory Award from the Society of Authors. For over a decade she worked in editorial at the literary quarterly magazine, Granta, and established the poetry list for Granta Books, where her authors include major figures such as Will Harris, Daisy Lafarge, Holly Pester, Will Alexander and others. Last year, Rachael began her current role at Fitzcarraldo Editions, where her list includes voices such as Oluwaseun Olayiwola, Diane Seuss and Sasha Debevec?McKenney. She is a lecturer in Creative Writing at Queen Mary University of London.
