Hosted by Devenish in the heart of the historic Boyne Valley, the “Old Racecourse” at Dowth will host the 2016 Dowth Point-to-Point & Country Fair in conjunction with the Meath Hunt & Tara Harriers. Great racing, artisan food, kids fun and shopping. Please join us on Sunday October 30th for what promises to be as much fun as you can have with your wellies on.
This October’s event will feature the Boyne Valley Artisan Food Fair headed by Michelin star chef, Richard Corrigan, who will offer cookery demonstrations showcasing delicious local produce.
Last year over 3,000 local visitors attended the event with over 5,000 expected this year. Be part of this unique celebration of the best of Meath country lifestyle and hospitality. So whether you have four legs or two, be sure to trot along to Dowth this bank holiday weekend for more entertainment than you can shake your tail at.
6 races over 3 miles and fences
The first race will be off at 12.30 with 6 Point-to-Point races on the card, all run over 3miles with fences. Last year’s winner of the 5-year-old Maiden Race, Tomngerry won on his debut at Dowth Hall and was sold at the prestigious Tattersalls November Cheltenham sale before going on to win his next four starts for new connections. Get ahead of the tipsters and see who will prove this year’s one to watch.
There will be two Pony Club races after racing, run by Meath Pony Club for ponies and children. A real crowd pleaser, it’s sure to be full of fast paced action!
Boyne Valley Artisan Food Market
Returning this year bigger and better, the Boyne Valley Artisan Food Market will be headed by Michelin star chef Richard Corrigan, who will offer cookery demonstrations showcasing delicious local produce. There will be over 20 artisan producers where you can sample, purchase and take home lots of goodies.
Eat on the Day
When you are shopped out, sit down and enjoy some great food. Dine al fresco with a great view of the action from our wide variety of foodie offerings – whether it is pig on a spit, carlingford prawns, country quiches or sweet treats, we will have lots of foodie options for you and your family. If open-air cooking and the freshest seasonal produce has you licking your lips, then you’re in for a treat.
Bar & Baristas
We will have a great bar serving everything from craft beers, hot whiskeys to all your usual favourites along side artisan coffee units to keep your caffeine fix topped up.
From style to saddlery, painting to pashmina’s, our shopping village will have something to tempt your eye. We’ll have a range of brands showcasing their latest wares.
Farm Africa Kids Zone
Bring the smallies along for some good old-fashioned fun in the Farm Africa Kids Zone where there will be arrange of activities for the kids (and a few seats for the parents take a well earned rest). Highlights include the Agri Aware Pet Farm, face painting, bouncy castles, welly-wanging (throwing!) and the good old favourite sack race.
*In the interest of safety, please ensure children are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
*Note: there will be no on-site card payment facilities, so please bring cash if intending to purchase items.
*Note: Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Dowth. All dogs must be kept on a leash. Do not leave them in cars unattended, and please clean up after them.
Tickets are €10 per head and children under 12 are FREE in.
