To celebrate and promote the papers of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) held by Hull University Archives at Hull History Centre, the Centre is holding a one day conference in partnership with the Centre for Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Hull.
The conference will bring together historians and criminologists to consider issues of leadership in the police, past and present. Professor Clive Emsley, Doctor Sarah Charman and Professor David S. Wall will speak on subjects including historic leadership, including the first 100 years, the ACPO and concepts of leadership. In the afternoon historians and criminologists will discuss the challenges and controversies affecting leadership in the police in the past and the present.
The event is open to everyone with an interest in the history of policing and its leadership. Tickets are free but registration is required. Teas, coffees and lunch will be provided. A small exhibition of original materials from the ACPO collection will also be on display.
