Policing in crisis? A book and website launch event
Overview
Three years after our initial event, and yet another outrage about racism and misogyny in the Met Police following a BBC documentary, we come back to discuss police and policing: are these scandals symptomatic of a crisis in policing? Or are they rather inscribed deep in the police institution? And what solutions and alternatives can we put forward?
Join our long-table discussion around the book Policing in Crisis? Policing and Resistance in 21st century Britain published in September 2025 by Bristol University Press and the website spycopsresearch.info, which collates and analyses evidence from the Undercover Policing Inquiry. The discussion will also provide news from the Inquiry which is currently hearing shocking witness testimony.
Speakers include:
- Federica Rossi and Tracey Davanna (co-editors of the book, London South Bank University)
- Eveline Lubbers & Chris Brian (Undercover Research Group) and Tom Fowler (Spycops Info Podcast)
- Hope Chilokoa-Mullen, Destiny Boka-Batesa, molly ackhurst & Patsy Stevenson
