This Policy event has been arranged for members of the Birmingham branch to help inform CIPD’s response to the Government’s Green Paper on Work, Health and Disability: Improving Lives. We would like to invite members to join us at Urban Coffee in Birmingham, numbers are limited to 20 so places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
By way of background the Green Paper has far reaching proposals for how employers support people’s health as well as how it aims to halve the disability employment gap by 2020. As well as reviewing existing initiatives such as fit note certification and the fit for work service, the Green Paper examines new proposals such as changing statutory sick pay arrangements to encourage a phased return to work where appropriate, and mandating supportive conversations between an employer and individual who is off sick.
The scope of the Green Paper is wide-ranging, and the CIPD’s response will focus mainly on the role of employers in supporting people with disabilities and/or a health condition [Chapters 4, 5 and 6];
As HR professionals and diversity specialists we hope members will be interested in attending this event, where the discussion will be led by Rachel Suff, Policy Adviser, CIPD, as we welcome your experience and insight to help inform the CIPD’s response. The specific questions we wish to seek your views on, time permitting, are available to view here
