Event description

Description

Join us for an introduction to Policy Impact for Early Career Researchers!

The session will provide a brief introduction to the world of policy-making, and highlight legitimate routes to engage these policy makers with your research. An introduction to MetroPolis will highlight ways in which the University's research-led think tank can provide support with planning and achieving policy impact.

The session will consist of short talks from the speakers, followed by an open discussion about how to make the most of your research in terms of influencing policy. Whilst this session is aimed primarily at ECRs in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, we encourage ECRs from any other disciplines to join us for this session.

Speakers include:

  • Dr Sarah Bunn, Biological Sciences and Health Advisor, Parliamentary Office for Science and Technology (POST)

  • Dr Chris O'Leary, Acting Director of the Policy Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU), Manchester Met

  • Dr Oliver Sutcliffe, Senior Lecturer in Psychopharmaceutical Chemistry, Manchester Met

  • Dr Sam Illingworth, Senior Lecturer in Science Communication, Manchester Met
