The Policy profession in Defra is running Policy HomeSchool Induction, delivering a daily email over one week to complete your induction.

About this event

This course will offer an introduction to the fundamental aspects of policymaking and is aimed at those with limited policy experience. This includes new joiners to the policy profession, existing policy professionals seeking to reinforce their foundations in policy, or members of other professions wanting to learn more about policymaking.

The Policy Induction HomeSchool week will introduce the three pillars of the Policy Professional Development Framework and each day will focus on building knowledge of the fundamental areas of policymaking. Every morning, for one week, we’ll send you an email with a variety of material to support your learning. Each day’s learning will take 3-5 Hours and consist of a blend of interactive learning, reading, podcasts, webinars and videos.

  • The Policy Professional Development Framework
  • Politics & Democracy
  • Analysis and Use of Evidence
  • Policy Delivery
  • Policy in Defra

Booking courses

To book any of our courses or workshops please click on the links within the listings. If the course/workshop is full please add your name to the 'wait list' and you will automatically be allocated a place when one becomes available. Please note that you must have a defra.gov.uk or defra ALB email address to book.

Cancellations

If you have booked onto a course but find you are unable to attend PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU LOG BACK INTO EVENTBRITE AND CANCEL YOUR PLACE. This will ensure that others can take up places when they become available.

Cost

Whilst there would be a cost to attend these courses normally, the cost is being met by the department, so there is no need for you to source a purchase order.
