Join us on this family event at Lorton Meadows Nature Reserve for a morning dedicated to the fascinating world of pond life. We supply the nets, trays, charts etc you supply the kids. In small groups they will explore the underwater world of newts, water boatmen and diving beetles at our ever popular pond dipping sessions. The staff and volunteers will help you identify the bugs, beetles and other wildlife that are found.
This event is suitable for families with children from 4 to 15 yrs old. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Tickets are charged at £4 per child, accompanying adults FREE.
Please book a ticket for all members of your party.
Please be aware that the pond dipping platform can become wet, slippy and muddy so wear old clothing, wellingtons, footwear with grip etc. Also bring what you need (hats, coats, drinking water etc) and wear clothing appropriate to weather on the day.
Access to Lorton Meadow events is via Lorton Lane, approximately half a mile to the Conservation Centre and carpark. Please be aware of pedestrians and cyclists and keep to the 10 mph speed limit. Thank You

If coming by public transport the number 10 bus runs regularly between Weymouth and Dorchester with the nearest bus stop at Nottington Lane. If travelling from Dorchester nearest stop is Broadwey Methodist Church. It is then approximately a 10-15 minute walk to the centre via Dorchester Rd then Lorton Lane.
If coming by train the nearest station is at Upwey followed by approximately 20 minute walk via Dorchester Rd then Lorton Lane.

DWT reserves the right to cancel the event at any time. In the event of DWT cancelling an event, a full refund will be issued.
DWT reserves the right to reschedule events in the event of unfavourable conditions and offer alternative dates or issue a full refund.
Cancelling your booking
Cancellations are accepted at the discretion of Dorset Wildlife Trust and a reasonable cancellation cause should be provided by the participant.
You may request a cancellation up to 7 days before the date of the course or workshop. You may be charged an administration fee.
