Culture Kitchen is coming to the Ponteland Community
On Saturday the 29th October, Newcastle based charities Culture Connect and Crossings will be holding a Culture Kitchen in the Community lunch event in collaboration with Churches Together Ponteland at the Ponteland United Reformed Church.
The Culture Kitchen team is made up of volunteers from all over the world who now live on Tyneside. Many of the volunteers are currently seeking asylum or have been recently granted refugee status in our region. The volunteers meet on a weekly basis to plan different events that they rotate around Tyneside. They aim to bring people together through their food and music to learn about different cultures and the journeys they’ve made to the UK.
Guests of this upcoming event will have the chance to enjoy delicious food that is representative of Culture Kitchen cook’s cultures from Africa, the Middle East and Europe. The lunch will be accompanied by pressntations and music from refugee music organisation Crossings. Previous events have been met with rave reviews from guests. The event will be appropriate for all ages.
People are asked to sign up in advance if they would like to attend so Culture Kitchen can gauge the right amount of food to buy in advance. The event is free of charge however donations will be gratefully accepted at the event.
