Dr Chris Allen, described by the Belfast Telegraph as a QUB ‘dung boffin’ (but actually an environmental microbiologist), gives a light-hearted insight into the lives of the microbes found in faeces.
In this talk he takes us through the fascinating world of gut bacteria after they leave the gut. What happens to them next? And why is this useful for us to know?
It turns out that poo bugs have been around for a very long time, and can help us in a host of different ways – from answering questions about ancient history to offering treatments for unpleasant diseases.
