Pop Art Collection Talk
Fri 19 May 2017, 18:00 – 19:00 BST
Hunterian Curator Peter Black will give a talk on the Pop Art movement.
The Pop Art movement arose in Britain and America in the early 1960s. As the name suggests, the artists consciously turned against establishment thinking by celebrating images taken from popular culture. Printmaking, especially screen-print, played an important role because newspapers and advertising were once a prime source, especially for the pioneering sculptor and printmaker Eduardo Paolozzi whose prints are well represented in the Hunterian collections.
