POP Thursday does "The Future of Doing Good" with the Big Lottery
Thu 21 July 2016, 10:00 – 17:00 BST
The RAS/BME network meeting will run from 10-12pm in the main hall
At 12noon we will welcome the Big Lottery team to introduce their new and exciting project "The future of doing good"
This session will end at 5pm.
We are excited to be hosting the Big Lottery as they bring the first of their regional conference dates out of London.
The context for 'doing good' - creating social value - has changed beyond recognition in recent years. We've experienced financial crisis and global economic slowdown; corporate scandals in industries like banking; government significantly cutting back on public spending; and charities facing increasing debate about their role in creating a good society.
This session will feature discussion across sectors, the Big Lottery Fund hope to facilitate a debate across the whole of society – communities, charities, social enterprises, businesses and the state – about how ‘doing good’ should evolve in the future. What does it mean for how we support people to build better communities, and improve their own lives and the lives of those who live around them? What’s the role of charities, businesses, government and communities – and how should we all be working together?

We will also be holding our BME/RAS network meeting In the morning from 10am.
