About this event
The Moshimo Pop-up Breakfast
The speaker at our July pop-up breakfast is social entrepreneur Atif Choudhury, Chief Executive of Diversity and Ability, and Trustee for Disability Rights UK.
As a Bangladeshi child with undiagnosed learning differences growing up on a London council estate, Atif realised how different he was to his classmates in both visible and hidden ways. And it’s that experience that has driven his career ever since.
Atif now works on high profile social development projects across the world. Diversity and Ability strives to make an inclusive world better through a focus on and belief in the power of participation. Eighty five per cent of its team identify as disabled and/or neurodiverse. They are currently advisors to the United Nations and Crisis.
His other social enterprise, Zaytoun CIC, was inspired by a visit to Palestine. While he was there, he was appalled to note the plight of olive farmers who were struggling to make a living. So once back home he founded Zaytoun to create a UK market for olive oils, dates, almonds and other products of Palestinian farmers. It was the first Fair Trade company in Palestine.
At the breakfast, he will talk about the lessons he has learned along the way including how to help people feel that they belong, and how we need to get ready for the next generation.
