The 'digital security' breakfast
The two speakers at our pop-up breakfast will be talking about online security from two different angles.
Robert Schifreen is a former hacker, although he’s now the highly respectable founder of Brighton start-up SecuritySmart.co.uk, which offers IT security awareness training to companies.
Robert, who also broadcasts and writes about information security, will be talking about the pros and cons of encryption. Encryption is a controversial topic. On the one hand, it’s what keeps your information safe, protecting your credit card details when you’re shopping online, for instance. But at the same time, it also helps criminals keep their information and images secreted away too. Oh, and it doesn’t always work.
The second speaker is Dr Nick Sharples, a digital forensic expert and Technical Director of Geek Forensics. His talk will focus on Bitcoin, the digital currency which enables transactions online, including the Darkweb.
Nick will explain the finer details of Bitcoin - cryptocurrency, mining, digital wallets and the public ledger. At the end of this, you will be in a position to decide whether your business should be accepting Bitcoin payments or not.
