Welcome to my Poppy Head Garden Ornament Pottery Workshop at The Walronds!
My name is Helen McCormick and I'm a local ceramic artist and qualified art and design teacher. I've been creating objects from clay for the past 28 years, and I still absolutely love the process. I am passionate about teaching and have created this workshop to share my skills, knowledge and experience with anyone who would like to have a go for the first time or to develop their skills further.
Join me for a fun and creative session where you can learn to make a beautiful garden ornament inspired by nature's seed pod - the poppy head. This in-person event will guide you through the pottery-making process, from shaping the clay to adding intricate details. Whether you're a beginner or have experience with pottery, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their artistic side.
All materials and equipment will be provided, including 1 metal rod to display your work in your garden. Tea and Coffee will be available throughout the morning. The only thing you need to bring is an apron or wear old clothes ansd trim any long nails. .
After the workshop, I will carefully take your ornaments home and fire them in my kiln. I will glaze each one with an antiwue gold glaze, which will brighten your garden. Your beautiful creations will be ready for collection appoximately 6 weeks after the workshop finishes, dependent on how quickly the clay dries out. I will let you know the time, date and location.
NB: I am happy to store your work for 6 months from the collection date, after which time your work will be donated to charity.

There is FREE parking at the Walronds. The carpark is located at the back of the building. To access the carpark you will need to turn up Tiverton Road off the High Street, and then turn left just before the fire station onto Shortlands Lane. It is a narrow lane and easily missed. Drive a few yards up the lane and you will see the sign for the carpark on the left. Turn left and follow the drive through the gate ahead. Here is a link to Google Maps which should take you right to the carpark entrance. https://goo.gl/maps/JKfioUFi3FCSnCHJ9 What3words is pets.commutes.arriving https://w3w.co/pets.commutes.arriving
