About this event

At Poppy's, we want to open up a conversation about great death care — what it is and why it matters.

Knowing that the people close to us are treated with care and respect after they've died can make a huge difference to family and friends. It’s something that affects us all, yet often care for the dead is shrouded in secrecy and silence.

We're proud of the care we give at Poppy’s and we’re pushing for excellent care to become normal across the sector.

We hope you’ll join us at our open afternoon to see for yourself. Visit our beautiful light-filled mortuary, meet our team, learn more about how we care for the dead, and ask any questions.

Come and see for yourself.

The open afternoon is on Wednesday 15 October and the visit starts at 2pm and lasts about an hour.

Getting here:

Our address is: Poppy’s, The Gatehouse, Lambeth Cemetery, Blackshaw Road, London SW17 0BY. We will walk together from the Gatehouse to the Old Chapel mortuary at 2pm. If you arrive late, you can either ring the Gatehouse bell or walk straight to the mortuary which is past the roundabout and straight on (about 80m), don't take the road on the right to the crematorium.

Parking is free in the grounds of Lambeth Cemetery. Bus 493 stops outside the cemetery gate and the 155, 264, 280 and 493 buses stop nearby at the Kiln Mews bus stop. Tooting Broadway tube station is a fifteen minute walk from us.
