Event description

Description

For the first time since forming in Birmingham, Voice of the Town introduces a new and exciting practical, informative and energising vocal workshop.

Completely different to a VOTT rehearsal in format, where the primary focus is on learning song arrangements, we shall instead focus on technique and explore the stylistic elements and nuances that allow us to develop, and to better understand, our singing of songs from popular and contemporary music.

Hear the Improvements Instantly

It is perfect if you're looking to improve the power/projection of your voice, increase your vocal range, develop your tone/sound, work on general technique, gain greater control of your breathing and/or improve your vocal stamina/health.

Suitable for vocalists of varying abilities and vocal backgrounds, from performing lead vocalists to group/choir singers, its content will cover styles from Pop, Rock, Soul/Funk, Gospel and more.

Putting Techniques Into Practice

Furthermore, later in the day, workshop attendees will get the opportunity to put the concepts and techniques into practice by singing together using vocal material straight from Voice of the Town's fantastic body of arrangements.

And for those interested in joining Voice of the Town, the training and content of the workshop will prove to be invaluable when it comes to learning and performing songs, in rehearsals and in live shows.

Equally, for those looking to attend purely for self-development, the training will be of significant benefit to your own practice.

Leading The Workshop

The workshop will be led by Voice of the Town Founder & Director, Steve Morton. As well as being a leading vocal coach and one of the UK’s few Certified Master Teachers of Estill Voice Training, arguably the preeminent vocal training model globally, Steve is also an experienced vocalist, pianist and Musical Director who has worked and performed with international artists, West End performers, across the music industry and as a guest speaker and lecturer in Higher Education and professional practice.

Additional Info

Tea/Coffee & Refreshments are included.

Registration on the day is from 10am to 10.30am.

Please note:

  • Places for the workshop are limited and on a first come, first served basis.
  • This is not a choir rehearsal. The format of the course is a seminar/workshop which will allow attendees to delve much deeper into technique, sound, effects and approaches.
  • Towards the end of the day, there will be designated time for attendees to pose various vocal-based questions relevant to, and outwith, the content of the workshop.
