Attending a Portage Workshop gives participants the opportunity to:

·         Gain practical strategies, ideas and resources that can be used straight away within the home and in settings, to differentiate and provide for children with additional needs

·         Work with and learn from parents and other professionals

·         Develop links and gain access to support from highly skilled Portage professionals working in the field of early years/SEND

·         Improve their everyday practice to the benefit of all children, not just those with additional needs

·         Develop an understanding of how to achieve real, meaningful inclusion in settings

·         Increase their confidence in working with disabled children

·         Access follow-up training, support and CPD that could lead to further career progression

By popular request we have decided to add a section on ‘Completing an EHC request’ that will aid settings in recognising what is required and who the request is suitable for.

The course includes extensive materials for each participant.

Cost:

The course costs £50 for the three days if you work within the borough in an early years provision. If you are a non-resident/setting the cost is £150.

South Thames Early Education Partnership and Teaching School Alliance. (STEEP)

STEEP is a partnership of six South London, Nursery Schools and Children’s Centres, with a long history of working with children and families.

We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfil their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right, and provides the foundation for children to make the most of their own abilities and talents as they grow.

STEEP aims to support those working with young children and their families through the provision of a range of high quality professional development opportunities including:
  • Support and training for Childminders
  • Initial Teacher Education
  • CPD for Early Years professionals in schools and settings
  • Sharing practice and building networks across our learning community
