Portfolio Polishing 2021
Event Information
About this Event
Portfolios can be a one-off chance to make a good impression when applying for jobs, funding applications or college courses. Are you keen to get feedback on how your portfolio comes across? Are you unsure about the best way to present yourself, or feel your presentation skills are letting you down?
Portfolio Polishing is an online workshop where you'll receive feedback on your portfolio - what works well, what doesn’t work well - and direction about the small changes you can make to achieve a big impact. We guide you to make your projects reach their best potential and command attention. The process of making your work understood by others can give you a clearer, improved understanding of your own work.
Subscribers to this course will receive access to a 40 minute long tutorial session. You will also be able to access and participate in the other tutorial sessions scheduled that day.
Listen in to the portfolio feedback of others and pick up tips and tricks about how to elevate your own work. Participate in the discussions about how to position yourself in the creative field.
The workshop centres around the idea that the best way of learning is to combine tutorials with peer to peer discussions. We run these workshops in small groups, and talk about each project individually in an objective and friendly - but critical - online space.
Sarah van Gameren is co-founder of the design studio Glithero and has extensive experience communicating design projects to clients. In her roles as designer, juror and lecturer she has broad experience reviewing design portfolios. She has engaged in different academic approaches to design at the Design Academy Eindhoven and the Royal College of Art.
“I really appreciated all the feedback I received during the sessions and it enormously improved my portfolio! I have since been hired here in the US and am on my second week! “
Valerie
“Thank you again for your feedback on my portfolio, as any professional perspective during these times is invaluable.“
Grace Keeton
For this workshop you will be required to submit a work-in-progress portfolio. The workshop can be supplemented with a 30 minute individual tutorial to review your portfolio after improvements have been made.
