Please only book 1 session per person to allow other the opportunity. If we see you have booked two sessions then we may cancel the latest booking in order to free up the space.

Who is this event for

  • Those interested in postgraduate study at the Royal College of Art
  • Current RCA applicants and offer-holders
  • Friends and family are also welcome to join, though they do not need a ticket

You don't have to specialise in any discipline to attend this event: we welcome guests planning to apply to all subject areas.

Due to the postgraduate nature of RCA study, all attendees must be over 18.

How to join

The event is free to attend, but please note that places are limited. Pre-booking is essential to guarantee your spot.

I'm thinking of applying to the RCA - can I have an informal portfolio chat?

Yes! We're delighted you're thinking of starting your RCA journey. Please book a portfolio appointment during the registration process and bring a digital version to yourself.

You are welcome to bring and show your work but can also attend to just have a chat about the Royal College of Art and ask questions.

About the host

Joseph Pochodzaj (Senior Tutor and Admissions Tutor, Visual Communication MA)

Joseph Pochodzaj is an interdisciplinary graphic designer and educator, working within cultural publishing, exhibition and book design.

Joseph is a tutor on the MA Visual Communication Programme and Admissions Tutor at the Royal College of Art (London) and online Tutor for the MA Graphic Design course at Falmouth University. He is an external examiner for the BA Design for Art Direction course at the London College of Communication (UAL).

His research is focused on the role of graphic design in facilitating forms of intercultural communication and constructing platforms for dialogue. This has included delivery workshops with nomadic craft communities in Kazakhstan as part of the British Council’s Crafting Futures programme, addressing issues of gentrification in East London through collaborative publishing (London Festival of Architecture) and challenging forms of discrimination with organisation The Age of No Retirement.

Joseph has collaborated with organisations such as The British Council, London College of Communication, The Architecture Association, Open Editions, The National Pavilion UAE (Venice Biennial 2017) and The British Fashion Council.

He has also worked closely with cultural archives such as the Tate Archive and Bishopsgate Institute, exploring methods of challenging historical narratives and reactivating archival material.
