Artist & Broadcaster Gerry Kersey shares 16 new artworks created to remember working life at Hadfields Steelworks in Sheffield
About this event
Join us for the first a new series of lectures at the historic Portland Works in Sheffield
Gerry Kersey has created 16 new artworks from his own and his father's time working at one of the biggest steelworks in the country and talks about working life and how his paintings embody his memories and those of his father's 39 years of work.
Gerry will share memories of his dad and his own time touring the furnaces and rolling mills at Hadfields which once employed over 15,000 people in the place where the Meadowhall Shopping Centre now stands.
Gerry is a witty, entertaining and experienced speaker with over 50 years as a local broadcaster on the BBC and in Commercial Radio. He has written and performed in many plays on the Sheffield stage in productions at the Crucible and the Library Theatre.
Did you know he used to be part of a Radio 4 comedy trio with Kenny Everett and Germaine Greer ?
His new original works will be on display at this event and prints and cards will be also available to buy.
