About this Event
Starting from the basics, you will learn from a variety of exercises and tuition the essential techniques used to create beautiful portraits using pencil.

Tuesday evenings, 6.45pm - 9pm, starting 4 February 2020 (£160 for 10 sessions)
Programme
Starting from the basics, your tutor will provide exercises and tuition to help you improve your portrait drawing or help you get to grips with the basics. This course is suitable for beginners, or for more experienced portrait sketchers looking to polish up their skills.
The 10 week course will cover topics:
1. Materials & introduction to line drawing
2. Tonal drawing3. Anatomy and structure4. The face from different angles5. Portrait from life.6. Character7. Lighting and shading (planes of the face)8. Focus on the features9. Long portrait 1 from life - blocking in10. Long portrait 2 from life - rendering in tone
Tutor: Kathy Dereli
Kathy is trained in traditional techniques in drawing and sculpture which she uses to create well-crafted artworks with a modern sensibility. She has lead classes and demonstrations in both disciplines for several years. Kathy has also run Portrait Drawing for many years as well as Sketching in the Tunnels.

Bluecoat, School Lane, Liverpool, L1 3BX
Situated in the centre of Liverpool, just behind Church Street, down Church Alley and in front of Liverpool ONE. You can enter the building via the front courtyard off School Lane, or through the garden at the back off College Lane. Nearest train station- Liverpool Central.
Cost
£160 for the 10 week course (full course must be booked in advance)
It is possible to split this cost into two payments of £80, please call 0345 017 6660 for more details.
Materials
You will receive a list of essential materials 2-3 weeks before the course, if you want this list earlier please contact info@dot-art.com
The essential materials will include pencils (H, HB, B as a starting point), A3 paper pad (cartridge paper or rag paper is best) a rubber and sharpener.
Notes

Cancellations / Refunds
Once you have made your course booking your are committed to it. This is because our courses have very small student numbers, and often sell-out and are unavailable to others. Therefore any cancellations may result in a place not being filled, or a course not being able to run.
Cancellations are permitted up to 30 days before the start of a course, and a full refund will be issued. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of a course. If you are unable to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments you do not have the right to a refund.
If you wish to cancel your place on a course that has not yet started and you have a friend or colleague who can take your place we can accommodate this substitution.
