This LCF × CASS ART workshop led by Francesco Poiana invites participants to explore expressive portrait drawing through colour, line, and mixed media. Using a selection of materials provided, participants will experiment with ways of depicting shape, depth, tone, and emotion. Emphasis will be placed on free mark-making and intuitive use of colour to capture the human face.
A model will be present to offer a shared reference point.
Participants will be given time and space to approach the formal aspects of looking and drawing with the aim of developing their own visual language. Different ideas such as shape, composition, likeness, and negative space will be considered, looking at a broad range of contemporary and traditional artists who have been fascinated by the human face.
The session encourages experimental processes and individual interpretation and is suitable for all levels, with guidance tailored to support both beginners and more experienced artists.
This event will take place in the Wolfson Gallery, Ground Floor at London College of Fashion, UAL. Materials provided.
