Event description

Description

Eliot Smith Company’s new classical contemporary dance programme comes to Bamburgh Pavilion as part of a triple bill. PORTRAITS OF COURAGE which is inspired by the genius and courage of four great Northerners; William Armstrong, George Stephenson, Grace Darling and Emily Wilding Davison.

MOONLIGHT depicts one couple's passion as they explore the strength of their growing love for each other under the moonlight in a vivid and powerful pas de deux, set to Luca D'Alberto's Screaming Silence.

Eliot's hugely popular PITMAN, returns with 'Dawn at Ashington', 'Coal Tubs on The Way' and 'Fish and Chips' including three new sections; 'The Miner', 'Progging the Mat' and 'The Xmas Tree'. It tells the story of the miners and their community through dance interpretations of the paintings of the Pitmen Painters that are on permanent exhibition at Woodhorn Museum.

"Impressed by the depth of technique, precision and originality on display" NARC. Magaizine

"Electric, inspirational and absolutely mesmerising" - Billingham International Dance Festival

"Powerful, brilliant. Great dancers. The Pitmen Painters would have been proud of you" - Audience Member
