The Portsmouth Safeguarding Adults Board 2025 Conference will explore the implications for practice of the interface between the Mental Capacity Act and the Mental Health Act.

Conference speakers will include:

  • Professor Keith Brown, on mental capacity through the lens of his own family experience
  • Hannah Taylor from Bevan Brittan LLP, presenting a legal case study on the interface between the Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act.
  • Police Representatives on mental health and capacity in policing
  • Claire Barcham from the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services on policy reforms
  • Elliot Wylde, Head of Mental Health and Mental Capacity Act for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Trust
  • People with lived experience

The Conference is an opportunity to meet with others from different agencies and professions to network and exchange ideas and experiences and to spark ideas, conversations and connections.
