Description

The Portuguese Chamber’s 2017 Property Conference will take place on Tuesday 9th May in the Thomas Lord Suite at Lord's Cricket Ground, London NW8 8QN

The Portuguese Chamber has been organizing this conference since 2004, so 2017 will mark its 13th anniversary. During the last decade the conference has grown in prestige to become the annual networking event for property professionals working in the tourism/residential sector in Portugal and the UK, and attracts 120+ paying delegates each year.

The audience includes developers, financiers, mortgage providers,
property investors, bankers and real estate investment groups.

Conference Programme

“How Can Portugal Target the Three Main
British Buyer Profiles?"

The UK’s ageing demographic profile is seeing three very distinctive types of British buyer emerge –“working lifestyle” buyers, “independent and assisted living” buyers and “relaxed lifestyle” buyers. How can Portugal pinpoint these lucrative but hard-to-find prospects and adjust its product offering accordingly?

Our Conference Chairman will be Peter Robinson, Managing Director of the Association of International Property Professionals, who will moderate our speakers and panel members to ensure a lively and topical debate.

The conference begins with registration from 2pm at the Thomas Lord Suite, Lord’s Cricket Ground, London NW8. The conference itself begins at 2.30pm and will finish with networking drinks at 6.30pm. The Conference Networking Dinner will be held in the Thomas Lord Suite at 7.30pm, for those who wish to attend and have pre-booked.

Panel One – UK-Portugal Post Brexit – the “Working Lifestyle” Buyer

This newly-emerging segment of the British market consists of UK business people and entrepreneurs aged 40+, who are considering moving their residence and /or business to Portugal, to take advantage of the highly advantageous tax benefits now available there. How can these elusive yet lucrative potential customers be reached? How can we mitigate the effects of the recent rise in the exchange rate?

Panel Two – UK- Portugal – the “Independent Living and Assisted Living” Buyer

The UK’s fast approaching “demographic cliff” will affect the typical buyer profile for Portugal for years to come. In 2017 there are 5m adults in the UK over 75. By 2027 there will be 7m. Who are these buyers, what do they want and how can we find them? Who is targeting them already? The US retirement market can give Portugal and the UK some highly valuable pointers as to how things will unfold.

Panel Three – UK Portugal – the “Relaxed Lifestyle” Buyer

This buyer group continues to seek an active, wellness-based lifestyle lived between the UK and Portugal. Typically they seek a second home in Portugal based around sports, sunshine, easy access, increased leisure and family time and for possible investment. How is this market segment developing, are developers producing the right product? What are the growth prospects?

Key Speakers include

Margaret Wylde PhD, the CEO of ProMatura Group, LLC , the US market leaders in retirement community planning

Andrew Lane, the General Manager of Santander Totta’s London branch, leading providers of mortgage finance

Rui Boavista Marques, Director for UK and Ireland of AICEP- Portugal Global, Portugal’s inward investment agency

Antonio Padeira, Director for UK and Ireland for Turismo de Portugal
