About this Event
We Run to Stay Well.
At Positive Movement we are changing the conversation around mental health.
Mental health is not just something that is ‘good’ or ‘bad’. It fluctuates on a daily basis and doesn’t discriminate. It is a part of our everyday lives.
Yet too many of us wait until there is a problem before we take steps to improve our mental health.
It doesn't have to be like that.
Positive Movement passionately believe that exercise is the key to building a positive mindset, developing resilience and forming good habits that equip you with strong mental fitness.
We have learnt that exercise, specifically running, is an investment in your mind, body and soul that fosters a sense of self-worth. It makes you feel strong and capable, leading to higher self-esteem.
We know that building resilience is crucial in helping us overcome adversity when we face mental or emotional challenges in life and that running can help us cope with difficulties in a healthy way, instead of resorting to alcohol, drugs, or other negative behaviors that ultimately make the situation worse.
Running for just half an hour per week can help boost your immune system, reduce the impact of stress, make you feel more energetic and help you get better sleep, while setting and meeting even small exercise goals gives you a huge sense of achievement and an enormous sense of well-being.
Best of all, we have found that running together, in a group is more motivating, more fun and is much more likely to help you stick to your goals. We feel better when we exercise together and in many ways, the companionship is just as important as the exercise!
So that’s what we do.
As a Run Club we help get you moving and encourage you to work towards fitness goals that build your confidence and self esteem.
As a Team, we hold ourselves accountable and inspire each other to ignore the excuses we come up with in our heads when we are not feeling up to it.
We show each other the value of being impeccable with our word and in doing so, we grow our self respect and become the best version of us we can possibly be.
If you commit to running with us just once a week, we can almost guarantee you will change your outlook on life for the better.
All you have to do is take the first step and make contact. You owe it to your future self.
