Positive Parenting - Understanding our emotions
Feeling happy enables us to be healthier, more creative and closer to the people in our lives. Emotions such as anger, sadness and fear are often viewed as negative or unhelpful. Yet they are fundamentally part of who we are, they are part of you and your children.
These emotions are designed to motivate behaviours, they push us towards our goals and help us shy away from threat, they are the glue that keep us together as family, friends and partners and are critical to our health, underlining our mental and physical wellbeing.
SO WHY DO THEY SOMETIMES GO WRONG?
In this 1 hour talk Juliette will explore the purpose, importance and benefits of our core emotions. She will include information on how to explain emotions to your children, alongside practical tips on how to help your children learn to ride the waves of their emotions.
For over 10 years Juliette has been studying human behaviour and emotions. Her private practice is based in East Grinstead where she offers Counselling & Psychotherapy to adults and children. Juliette is a part time Lecturer delivering Mental Health Education at the International College of Oriental Medicine. She also writes and delivers talks within local communities, schools and companies.
Juliette's experience includes working within Private Practice, the NHS, Crime Reduction Initiative and in Schools.
