Event description
Positive Perspectives: a conference focused on supporting young people to look after their mental health and build resilience.

About this Event

A recent survey carried out by charity Young Minds found that only 17% of under 25s felt confident in their ability to manage their mental health by themselves (1). This event is for those professionals who help young people to cope with the ups and downs of early adulthood, from finding employment to dealing with housing issues or engaging with education.

Aimed at anyone working with young adults aged 16 plus, this conference brings together a range of perspectives on how to better understand mental wellbeing and develop their resilience. Our speakers all have experience of working with young people who are navigating the transition to adulthood and will share ideas on how to support them to look after their mental health.

Speakers include:

Liz Scott, a coach, trainer and mental health champion who will share the principles of how to awaken the built-in resilience we all have within us

Max & Maya Price, Founders of Proud2Be, a Devon-based social enterprise that supports LGBTQ+ people and their families to lead empowered and fulfilled lives

Nikki Markham, award winning social entrepreneur and expert in healing through nature who is spearheading a move for regulation and quality assurance in ecotherapy

Tim Powell-Morris, tech enthusiast and educator who is passionate about the positive impact technology can have on young people and their self esteem

There is limited parking at the venue. However, the Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel is located centrally in Exeter so we are encouraging delegates to consider using public transport to attend the meeting. Exeter Central Train Station is located opposite the venue. There are also bus stops just outside with buses running frequently. If this is not possible, there are a variety of car parks close by but we would suggest using one of the three park and ride car parks so that you don't have to drive into the centre of the city. These three are: Honiton Road, EX2 7NL; Sowton EX2 5GL; and Matford EX2 8FD and the buses from these will drop you off in the city centre which is a short walk from the hotel. If you require more accessible options email empoweringenterprise@petroc.ac.uk for more information.
