Positive Psychology with Saiyyidah Zaidi & Daniel Burke
Please note, this is a Meyler Campbell Connected (Alumni & Current Students) members only event.
Positive psychology is the scientific study of ‘the good life’ and the positive aspects of ‘the human experience’ that make life worth living, with the good life being a reflection of what contributes to a well-lived and fulfilling life. It offers a great deal of rich material to coaches. How do you use the tools that positive psychology has to offer? How do you integrate the interventions within your coaching practice?
Meyler Campbell Faculty Members Daniel Burke & Saiyyidah Zaidi will provide attendees with an informative and interactive look at Positive Psychology. Both are well-informed on the subject; Saiyyidah has a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and Daniel studied with Professor Seligman, one of the founding fathers of Positive Psychology.
In this webinar, our speakers will share:
• A very brief history of positive psychology
• Their personal perspectives including their favourite positive psychology interventions
• A ‘Top 10’ of additional positive psychology interventions
• How to integrate positive psychology techniques in your coaching practice
• And where to start, along with the opportunity for questions
Saiyyidah and Daniel will also be providing a list of further reading and other resources to attendees after the session.
Saiyyidah Zaidi (pronounced say-ee-dah, meaning female leader) is an experienced coach and online trainer working internationally and across sectors. Saiyyidah qualified as an Architect at the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow and went on to have a successful career in local government specialising in regeneration and construction culminating in her role as director of a £300m project. Saiyyidah is a Fellow of the Association for Project Management. A passionate learner, Saiyyidah graduated in 2011 from The Meyler Campbell Mastered programme and qualified as a Certified High Performance Coach with the High Performance Institute in 2014. Her clients have included leaders in education and the non-profit sector, entrepreneurs, and individuals in transition who know that they are destined for more. She holds two Masters with distinctions including one in Applied Positive Psychology and is currently reading for a doctorate in positive psychology, coaching, and practical theology. Having coached and trained clients online for over a decade, Saiyyidah is an advocate of using the right tools to meet the needs of her clients in actual and virtual contexts. She is motivated by knowing that with the right strategies, tools, and coaching the ability to seize untapped potential exists, and the ability to do extraordinary things is available to anyone. Saiyyidah believes coaching is a partnership where she is the guide enabling individuals and organisations to gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and to use that as the foundation to achieve in alignment with their values. Saiyyidah has travelled the world with her husband and two children before returning to live in her native North London. She teaches and coaches clients across the world.
Daniel Burke is a lifelong learner and gifted teacher. He is the Chairman of Meyler Campbell, has been on its Faculty since the outset, and co-founded and coaches with The Alliance. He is also a dedicated jazz trombonist, has run five London Marathons, and has bicycled round the world. An Imperial College London graduate and Fellow of the ICAEW, Daniel became a Partner in the International Leadership Team at KPMG, working closely with Global Chairman Lord Sharman on major projects including the possible merger with EY, strategy, and governance. Leaving in 2002, he retrained as a psychologist and leadership coach, and joined Meyler Campbell. In parallel, he co-founded the successful coaching business The Alliance, now in its second decade. Daniel was on the first Seligman Positive Psychology for Coaches training; and is trained in MBTI, R2, Gestalt, NLP, Mindfulness for Coaches, Nancy Kline’s Thinking Environment (working directly with Nancy herself for several years), and much else. Despite his long experience of corporate complexity and vast knowledge, he walks his talk - generously sharing just the right nuggets of information when asked, but only after subtly coaching first. A colleague called him ‘a gifted and caring teacher with real business experience’ and there is much affection in the community for his creativity, wry humour and rigour. Daniel sees commonality between coaching and music – and jazz in particular. In both, the more expert you become, paradoxically the more you value listening and collaboration. He also believes strongly that if he is out there advocating personal development and growth, he ought to be trying it on himself first.
