Event description

Description

The poster exhibition presents the Reformation in seven chapters, showing Martin Luther’s origins against the background of the late Middle Ages social structure from which the Reformation emerged to its rapid propagation through Europe. Due to the new medium of book printing, the movement quickly became a household name and ultimately altered and affected western society and culture until the present day. Topics include the history of women in the Reformation period, Luther’s fellow reformers, and the global spread of Protestantism.

The exhibition opening will take place after Prof. Dr. Solms' lecture at the Goethe-Institut Glasgow, which will be held in German. The poster exhibition itself will be in English and displayed from the 4th of October 2017 until the 31st of October 2017 at the Goethe-Institut Glasgow.

Please note that the exhibition and the lecture are free.

All the events marking the Lutherjahr by the Goethe-Institut are in collaboration and partnership with the German consulate general, the German Speaking Congregation, the Church of Scotland, the University of Glasgow and the University of Edinburgh.
