Description
Current Postgradute Researchers and Early Career Researchers are invited to attend the School of Law's Academic Career Development event.
This event will contribute to the training needs of the School of Law's Postgraduate Researcher community and will provide PGRs with information and guidance on how to pursue a career in academia in the UK.
It describes various different academic positions and covers the different aspects of the recruitment procedure. It will provide PGRs with an understanding of what they should expect when applying for positions in academia.

Oriana Casasola and Marcello Sacco will introduce the event.
12:05 First Steps: Application / CV / Cover Letter
Steve Carter from the Career Centre will give professional advice for introducing yourself effectively.
You are warmly invited to bring your own CV for a brief workshop on it!
13:00 Academic Positions: An Overview
Dr Amanda Keeling will explain the different positions in academia clarifying their hierarchy and the passages that are needed to make career.
13:30 Sandwiches & Cakes
14:30 Presentation of the Research Agenda
Dr Chris Dietz will talk about the presentation of the research agenda following his recent experience becoming lecturer in the School of Law.
15:00 Interview Panel
Prof Alastair Mullis, Prof Pinar Akman, and Prof Nick Taylor will clarify what the interview panel expects from candidates giving strategic insights to be competitive and successful in interviews for academic positions.
