Building Effective SME Lead Team
This event is to introduce a research project currently being led by Pathfinder Associates. This is based on a large body of work undertaken by Professor Michael West and colleagues over many years, particularly in the NHS. 100 companies will be involved in the project, all SME, privately owned and business to business.
What makes an effective team? Where do lead teams struggle to develop? How do they develop while coping with the unrelenting day to day pressures involved in running an SME? Some theories and models of team effectiveness will be discussed, together with the basis for this current work, the initial findings and trends. These will include areas which are consistently overlooked. This will be a highly interactive workshop and participants will diagnose some of the case studies to identify key issues and learning points.
The diagnostic for the research is based on AstonODs Team Performance Inventory and has five sections: Inputs, Team Processes, Leadership Processes, Team Outputs and Business Results.
Speaker: Alan Slater Pathfinder Associates
Alan from Pathfinder Associates specialises in team effectiveness. Alan is accredited to Belbin Team Roles, AstonOD Team Performance Inventory and BarOn EQi. He is a qualified and supervised coach and an NLP Practitioner. He has designed a business simulation which he uses to facilitate leadership and team effectiveness workshops. Prior to establishing Pathfinder Associates, Alan led manufacturing operations for several companies to Group Director level and has also been a Non Executive Director in two companies. He chairs a charity based in the North West.
