Description

POSTPONED DUE TO LOW BOOKINGS (NEW DATE TBA)

Discourse Analysis Taster

Dr Jane Callaghan

Discourse analysis emerged as part of the broader turn to language in research, in the late 20th and early 21st century. In this session we will explore critical and constructionist approaches to knowledge, considering how knowledges are built up, and how knowledge claims are supported in research. To illustrate the constructionist approach to academic research and practice, we will work through one approach to Foucauldian discourse analysis.

A 2-day Programme in Doing Discourse will follow this workshop on 4th and 5th February.

This workshop is open to any student currently registered on a research degree programme at the University of Northampton. Further information is available from Simone Apel (simone.apel@northampton.ac.uk; 01604 893418).
