Event description
Discover more about spring migrant birds in the North-East, including why they migrate and how to identify them.

About this event

Explore spring birds; partial and full migrants to the North-East and their varied habitats; how to identify them by sight and sound; why birds migrate; vagrancy. Leader: Hywel Maggs.

This is part of the Aberdeen Birding Calendar 2020, a unique series of events for beginners and experienced birders alike.

ABC - The Aberdeen Birding Calendar is an exciting, different, programme of outdoor gatherings for those new to birding as well as lifelong enthusiasts. Enjoyable field meetings where you can explore particular topics in a bit more depth, meet like-minded people, share experience and hopefully have a good day out!

A skilled leader will briefly introduce each topic and co-ordinate a field outing. The trips will have a short session to set the scene for the day, and/or as a follow-up review.

Everyone is welcome - Whether you are just starting out or can share your experience on an enjoyable day. You don’t need to be a member of the SOC.

Dates may be changed due to the weather. The length of the outing will vary depending on the weather, how many birds are around and the enthusiasm of the group to continue!

Please bring suitable clothing and footwear and take care on roads, steep or slippery surfaces.
