Event description

Description

The All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Votes at 16 is hosting a debate with MPs and young people in the Houses of Parliament. The event forms part of the APPG's work to build the case for votes at 16, by hearing a wide range of opinions both for and against the issue.

So, this event is an opportunity for young people to have their voices heard, and ensure that MPs listen to what they have to say about votes at 16.

Specifically, the debate will focus on the Conservative case for and against Votes at 16. Panellists will include Conservative MPs both for and against, as well as members of the Youth Parliament both for and against, and will be chaired by a Conservative MP too.

It will be an opportunity for young people to hear both sides of the argument, to ask questions, and also to put their viewpoint across – whether they are for or against lowering the voting age. The debate is a prelude to the APPG hosting a fringe event at Conservative Party Conference this year, which again will open up the debate among MPs.

We look forward to seeing you here on the 18th July!
