Part of a series of weekly Postgraduate Research Student Training sessions, delivered by London Met's Graduate School.
About this event
London Met PGR Training 2021-22
Amy Beddows is a PhD student at London Metropolitan University, researching women’s experiences of victim blame following sexual violence. She ran ten focus groups with women at Rape Crisis centres across England and Wales, listening to their experiences of engaging with professionals and services and the difficulties they experienced in trying to access meaningful support.
This session will discuss the findings of her research – that victim blame is an insufficient concept for understanding the negative ways that agencies respond to women after violence – and the considerations of conducting research with (and for) women who have experienced sexual violence.
Session lead: Amy Beddows, Doctoral student at Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit
