Event Chair: Permanent Secretary Peter May
Peter was appointed as the Permanent Secretary of the Department for Infrastructure in May 2016. The Department's responsibilities include Road Improvement Schemes, Transport Initiatives, Roads Policies & Legislation, Public Transport, Active Travel, Sustainable Transport Policies, TransportNI Procurement, Road Users and Delivering the Regional Development Strategy 2035. Peter will chair the event and offer the Department’s perspective on the issue of ‘Workrelated Road Safety’.
Keynote Address: Dr Will Murray
With a background in transport and logistics, Will has specialised in work-related road safety research, policy and practice for over 20 years working with government agencies and NGOs as well as some of the world's best known corporate brands. He is Research Director at eDriving Fleet which provides research-led fleet risk management solutions. Will is also a Visiting Fellow at universities in the UK and Australia, as well as a long time Trustee of the road safety charity Brake. His keynote address will explore why work-related road safety is important for a range of societal, legal, business and financial reasons. It will also look at how work-related road safety can be improved for the benefits of organisations, society and individuals.
Panellist: Nick McCullough
Current Chair of CILT NI, Nick has over 22 years’ experience in the Logistics industry. Specialising in retail logistics, he worked for Tesco, the UKs largest retailer, for over 10 years in various logistics roles across the United Kingdom. He currently works for DFDS, the largest shipping company in Europe, which has over 6,500 employees and 21 locations across Europe and the Baltic. Nick heads up their Regional Distribution Centre in Northern Ireland, delivering 3PL logistics solutions
for companies such as Sainsbury’s, Argos, Tesco, Pets at Home and Greg’s, to name but a few. Nick sits on the Freight Transport Association Council for Northern Ireland and guest lectures at the Ulster University and CAFRE College.
Panellist: Martin Hutchinson
Martin took over as CEO of Transport Training services earlier this year. TTS provides industry-led training to the Transport sectors. He has 20 years’ experience in the retail motor industry, where he started as an apprentice, and a further 20 years in both College and manufacturer training provision, most recently as Retail Motor Industry Sector Skills representative. Within these roles Martin has gained a unique insight into the needs of transport, logistics and retail motor employers and managers in Northern Ireland.
