Rachel is a nurse, award winning blogger, speaker, trainer and mum living in Essex with her GP husband and three sons; one of whom has severe disabilities and life-limiting epilepsy.

As well as doing laundry and endlessly trying to tidy away toys, she blogs at Born at the Right Time and won the 2018 BAPs award for ‘Blogger ‘Making a Difference’ whilst being a finalist in the ‘Practical advice for families’ category. In 2015, she published her memoir ‘The Skies I’m Under’; a raw, heart-breaking and uplifting account of her journey into parenting a child with complex disabilities and life-limiting epilepsy. She believes an enjoyable evening includes a good book and glass of gin. Occasionally, she makes herself go for a run to counteract her love of salt and vinegar crisps.

She is passionate about using her family’s story and nursing skills to train professionals who care for families of children with complex needs. In an engaging, passionate and often humorous way, Rachel tackles the challenges facing families. She wants to equip practitioners with practical ways to communicate and partner with parents and carers of those with complex needs.
