Event description

Description

Visit the Time Healers' Victorian pharmacist's shop, as it re-opens for business at Sandfields Pumping Station for one night only. Marvel at the array of lotions and potions on display, as the phantom pharmacists talk you through their remedies and cures and demonstrate their curious contraptions and surgical instruments. As you listen to cautionary tales of poisonings, both accidental and deliberate, the brave souls amongst you may be persuaded to sample the latest scents and perfumes, which are of course perfect for masking the smell of fear.

Afterwards, if you have the stomach for it, we will be serving tea and a slice of Victoria sponge cake, the existence of which we owe to Birmingham based chemist Alfred Bird who invented baking powder in 1843.

All profits raised from the event will go towards the restoration of Sandfields Pumping Station, a Grade II* Listed Victorian Waterworks in Lichfield, which saved countless lives by supplying clean drinking water to cholera ravaged communities in the Black Country.

Over 16s only. Please note parking on-site is limited and so wherever possible, please use alternative forms of transport.
