Connect with Friends & Have Fun with Clay: A Creative and Relaxing Day at Cavehill

Looking for a unique and fun way to spend time with friends or to kindle new friendships?

Whether you're a seasoned artist or a complete beginner, this event is all about having fun, learning new skills, and enjoying each other’s company, in the surrounding natural surroundings of Redbarn Cavehill.

Spend the day getting your hands dirty, exploring hand-building techniques like pinch pots and slab building, or creating your own 2D relief or decoration. Our experienced instructors will guide you every step of the way in the charming, intimate setting of a converted stable.

After a light lunch you will make your way to our wild spa area! As Belfast's only outdoor wood fired sauna, your spa experience will also include use of this, wood fired hot tub, cold plunge pools and outdoor mountain shower. It is a wonderful experience surrounded in nature, birdsong and mountain views.

Not only will you create something beautiful, but you’ll also have the chance to unwind, laugh, and connect with others while embracing your creative and soulful side. The perfect balance of fun and relaxation!

No previous experience required. All materials and instruction included.

Pre-booking is required.

Give yourself the gift of relaxation and creativity—book your spot for a transformative day today!

Looking to continue your relaxation time - there is a private log cabin on site, with outside firepit and swing seat. This can be booked via airbnb.co.uk/h/redbarncavehillbelfast

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking onsite?

Public parking is available at the top of Upper Cavehill Road. The pottery studio is a 2 minute walk up towards the hill. Someone will meet you at top entrance to the Cavehill Country Park, 5 minutes before hand to direct you to the pottery studio.

Should I bring anything?

All materials are supplied including some images and poetry for inspiration, though you are welcome to bring your own images that are personal to you e.g. family photo, favourite landscape, animal or motto.

What should I wear?

Aprons are provided but it is best to wear comfy clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting messy in. As the pottery studio is on Cavehill, the area can at times be mucky.

Can children attend?

The event is aimed at adults looking for space and time to create. If your child is over 12 years of age and you feel they are mature enough, then they are welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult who is also participating in the class.

When I can pick up my artwork?

We are working with clay that requires time to dry and to be fired in a kiln , therefore work is generally ready for collection 2-3 weeks after the event. I will let you know during the class what date the work can be collected on.

what about food and drinks?

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. We will have a short break around 1pm so you are welcome to bring a packed lunch and alternative drink. Depending on weather you can stay in studio or sit outside in the meadow.
