Join us at Swarthmore and spend some time with professional ceramacist Jeannie Waterhouse for our Pottery Taster session!
Whether you want to try a new skill or create a masterpiece this three-hour taster class will give you a chance to experience what it is like to work with clay. You will learn how to create hand built pieces using coiling techniques, and decorate your work with coloured slip and glazes.
You'll have two hours to create a handbuild piece, and you will have one hour to work on the Potters wheel.Throwing on a potters wheel can be a therapeutic experience, it's fun, fast and messy! It can be a tricky technique to master, however you can have as much or as little help as you like to create a pot to be proud of.
You will be able to keep one thrown piece and one hand built piece. You will be given glazing options, and the pieces will be glazed for you and fired in the kiln. it will take between 3 and 4 weeks for your work to be fired and finished ready for you to collect from Swarthmore. You will be contacted by email when your work is ready.
